Upon your arrival we will be happy to give you details of what's on, in the area, during your stay.

Historic sites

There are many nearby historic sites including Puycelsi, a fortified hilltop village, which is ranked among the most beautiful in France.

The verger conservatoire in Puycelsi contains forgotten species of fruit and vines and is well worth a visit.

Nearby there is the lovely walled town of Castelnau de Montmiral which, like Puycelsi, is also in the top 100 most beautiful villages.

Also close by you will find Bruniquel Chateau where the oldest part of the castle was built in the 12th century with "new" additions in the 15th century. This striking castel dominates the valley of the Aveyron and is well worth a visit.

Within easy distances is the famous village of Cordes-sur-Ciel, one of the area's favourite tourist attractions. The medieval town of Lautrec is also within an easy commute.

A day in Albi (42 kms), an UNESCO world heritage site, will delight you with its wonderful cathedral, St. Cecilia. While there, a visit to the magnificient Toulouse-Lautrec museum is also highly recommended.

Montauban (45 kms) is a beautiful city and its Ingres Museum deserves a visit. Alternatively, visit the Château de Mauriac (17 kms) and view the quality in the work of the painter Bernard Bistes. A visit to the castle Cayla (18 kms) Museum of Writing is particularly rewarding.

Forest, trails and rivers

There are many hiking trails across France each with their own distinct number. The GR46 trail goes past la Batisse and on through the Gresigne forest. It is a forest rich in history with an abundance of wildlife and is the largest area of oak forest in the south west of France.

Alternatively, you can use the Puycelsi heritage trail which is well sign posted and meanders through picturesque scenery.

The Aveyron, 15 minutes away, is beautiful river and if you walk along its banks you will discover inviting places to swin. There are also places along its shore where you can rent canoes.

For those who wish something closer, with facilities for children, the leisure base Vere Gresigne will definitely fit the bil.

Markets

You will enjoy walking around different markets in the area where you will discover many great local products. The market of Saint Antonin Noble Val on a sunday morning is the most colourful.

Wine

Being here in the Tarn is, of course, the perfect opportunity to explore the Gaillac vineyards and to discover some wonderful wines. On your arrival you will be given a detailed map of the Wine Routes in the area to help your discover the wide range of local wines and vineyards. If you do not have enough time to visit all the various winemakers and, there are many, then the Gaillacs Wine House located in the beautiful Abbeu of Saint Michel offers more than 100 wines for fasting !
